Storm Days
Wild Cat Pow from Scott Lommele on Vimeo.
I think anyone that regularly skis Alta can agree, storm days are better than blue bird powder days. I think the canyon may have been closed for a while in the morning, so we got some nice country club action at the start.

Down Time A-Lodge Style
A little bit of down time at the A-lodge means it is time for a prank. Catie had to open the front desk at 6:30. Alan and Clifton decided to make it look like they had a hard night of partying behind the desk, enjoy. Down Time from Scott Lommele on Vimeo.
Tell Richard Bass
I don’t think I will be getting the Alta/Bird pass this winter Richard Bass, who owns the Utah resort, has partnered with William H. Hunt to form PacRim Coal LLC, which has submitted permit applications to build a giant coal mine that the groups say would not only raise the planet’s temperature but also destroy [...]

Chia Seeds
My new favorite thing to have for breakfast is a Chia Seed shake. Mix two table spoons of Chia Seed with a glass of water, the juice from half a lime, a bit of sugar to taste, and you have yourself a filling healthy breakfast. Salvia hispanica better known as Chia Seed (the same ones [...]

New episode of Salomon Freeski TV was posted a few days ago, I do not think I have ever seen a better compilation of big air bails. My favorite is the guy who loses both skis before getting to the second cliff.

Patsy Marley at 10,525 ft is just outside of the boundaries of Alta, here is a view of it from my room at the Alta Lodge. Ian, Alan, and I headed up late in the day after a small storm had come through and left us with a nice fresh coat of snow. It had [...]
Going Deep
One of the hidden treasures at Alta is an area named Keyhole. It is usually closed for avy control after big storms, but when it opens up it can a good place to find some of the deepest snow on the mountain. I headed over to the Keyhole late one afternoon with a fellow Alta [...]
