After ski season was over I had to get a real job for the summer to make a little bit of money, four months of landscaping on Cape Cod later I decided it was time to hit the road once again.  After two weeks at my parents house in West Hartford, it was time for me to head out to Colorado to spend some quality time with my brother and his wife to be. We decided to go for a camping trip up to the Holy Cross Wilderness. Our original plans were to head up the Missouri Lakes trail, but when we arrived the parking lot looked like something like a mall parking lot on Black Friday. We looked at our options and decided to head up a dirt road to another trail head, when we got to the end of the road we found ourselves to be the only car up there. We hiked up the trail for about an hour until the trail started to fade out in a high mountain meadow surrounding a beautiful lake. We were the only people around so we took our time searching for the perfect camping spot. We ended up finding a fire pit close to the lake, so we decided to gather fire wood and set up camp.  Here is a quick time lapse of our fire building skillz.

After camp was all set up it was time for some hobo dinners, which just happen to be the best camping food ever.  A Hobo dinner is some sort of ground red meat (we used Buffalo, but beef works great too), potatoes, carrots, onions, and any other veggie you would like.  Throw everything into some tinfoil mix in salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, and you are ready to give’r.  Wrap it up nice and tight and throw it onto the hot coals in your fire, let it cook for about 20 minutes on each side and you will shortly find yourself in possession of a tasty camping dinner.
